Ukrainian-Polish Forum "Technical education - for the future of Europe"

Quality control of education, international university rankings and trends in R&D cooperation were the main topics of the Ukrainian-Polish Forum "Technical education - for the future of Europe".  A two-day meeting, with the participation of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities was held at the Lviv Polytechnic National University on November 7th & 8th .

Cooperation between Polish and Ukraine technical universities was formalized on the 24th of April 2014. Under the terms of the Agreement universities agreed to create research consortia, increase exchanges of scientists and students and to conduct joint space science research. The primary objective of the Agreement is to make good use of scientific and technological achievements to provide a boost to the economies of Poland and Ukraine.

The keynote and invited speakers delivered insightful presentations on current research issues, including the Horizon 2020 funding programme.  The Forum was a good opportunity for exchange of experience in the field of international relations, signing bilateral agreements between universities as well as strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ones.  

The meeting was attended by Maksym Strich, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Henryk Litwin, Polish Ambassador to Ukraine and Andriy Sadovyy, Mayor of Lviv.
